unexpected love

Unexpected love, by Julie Zine Coleman.

I wasn't expecting this. Mrs. Coleman goes through the gospels and tells of the woman Jesus interacted with and than she goes deeper; she asks why did he say this or what did this phrase mean or was that offensive? She puts you in the cultural world in the Bible times and makes you think of aspects you really never thought of.
I really liked this book. It goes from Mary and Martha to Mary Magdelen; putting you in their shoes.

10 christians that everyone should know

10 Christians everyone should know,
by John Perry

I thought this book looked interesting. so I requested it from booksneeze to review and I read it.

Each chapter is devoted to their lives and what they did and Their Christian influences. Anne Bradstreet, Jane Austen, Sargent York, Washington Carver, D.L moody and others.

I must admit, some chapters were very dry to me, and others were more intriguing; like people I didn't know their story.

Overall, it was a good book.

Redemption review

Redemption: A Rebellious Spirit, a Praying Mother, and the Unlikely Path to Olympic Gold

Redemption,
By Bryon Clay

Its a good book, about a boy, who grew up in Hawii, his Father was abusive and his mother divorced him, he was confused and bitter at a young age, he was a mess, he got in fights.

His mother became a christian and remaired and prayed. She prayed everyday, even when he said it was no use.

And he liked sports. Bryon clay tells his past and tells of his redemption point, when he became a christian.

its a cool book!

Herge review

After watching the movie: Tintin 2011, and reading the comic books, I decided to read the bio of Herge, the man who made tintin.
Herge: The Man Who Created Tintin

Herge, the man who created Tintin,
By Pierre Assouline,
4/5 stars

Herge had a very boring life, as the book depicts, he grew up in a family, in Europe, his life, the author said was grey. Herge really liked drawing, he drew on boxes, paper and anything he could find.

Then he created tintin, the charatar we know now in the comics, a heroic 17 year old boy who is adventures and his backaround? no one really knows his family or where he came from.

The comic tintin orginally was published every week in the newspaper.
The bio also showed he wasn't a happy guy.

apollo 13 review

Apollo 13: Lost Moon

Apollo 13, by Jim lovell,

"Houston, we have a problem" the astronuts said as their space ship went out of control, when things looked the bleakest for them. They lost the moon.
Jim Lovell, Fred Haise and Jack Swigart were a crew that were going to the moon on the Apollo mission 13.
But complications stopped that and their next goal was to get back to earth alive.

Its a true story and a good book.
( the movie is better)

December 1941 by Craig Shirley

have you ever wondered what happened after the attack on pearl Harbor? when the USA went to war and what effect it had on the USA?

From newspaper clippings and tons of reasearch Craig Stirling compiled the book, December 1941, the USA really bonded together after pearl Harbor bombing, blind, old and young all went to efforts for the war.
